I was nervous and excited all at once. I showed up right at noon, as we had planned. I was so nervous though, that I took my time parking. I finally got out and walked up to the door. I was looking at the doorbell when the door opened and he stood there grinning.
We went upstairs to his room and he immediately set to showing me the games he has been playing lately. I just kind of stood there awkwardly, as there was no seating besides the computer chair he was on and the foot board of his bed blocked the view of the screen. After what seemed like an hour, his mom came tromping up the stairs carrying a kitchen chair. I was very thankful, and she gave him a bit of a guilt trip of not having seating for me.
Eventually we moved to watching some YouTube videos. I started feeling like a teenager in high school when his mom kept checking on us, trying to get us to go downstairs and watch a movie, have lunch, etc. She is a very sweet lady, and a very good hostess. However, I felt like she was worried we were going to “do something” up there.
We did end up going downstairs. We made sandwiches, had some chips and soda and watched Twister. Up until the last 20 minutes of the movie we sat at the kitchen table. Long after we had finished eating. I was happy when we moved to the comfortable living room chairs.
We talked all throughout the movie. I learned a lot more about him. At this point, I think the crush is kind of fading. We just have too many differences. Who knows, something could still happen, and hey, opposites attract, right?
Anyways, after the movie we continued talking for another hour or so. He then told me he wanted to play video games. I asked if I should go, and he said no, but that I would probably be bored. I took my leave then, since I was hungry and wanted to start winding down for the night since I had work the next morning.
He walked me to the door and we made some last minute small talk. It would have been the perfect opportunity for a hug, but no, we were both too chicken shit to make a move. I drove away while he was waving goodbye at the door.
Overall it was a good afternoon. His mom is a sweetheart, and I hope to someday meet his sister and cousin that he is always talking about. Like I said, I don’t think we could work, but you never know. I would be happy to teach him a few things, if you know what I mean. 😉
